Poll Function: Rehearsed Reading

Two west country plonkers return to a nostalgic suburbia to wreck havoc

The New Shoreditch Theatre brings you a rehearsed reading of a fierce and impassioned piece of new writing heading off to the Edinburgh Fringe circuit this year. Come and catch a preview look at the script and offer some feedback to help the team realise the show: hailtothepeople would like to invite you along to a full length rehearsed reading of their debut play Poll Function. As we enter the rehearsal space before Edinburgh previews, we would love to hear your thoughts on the scripts development and allow the story to be opened up once again for further feedback. The night will be a chance for us to develop the characters relationship with a new cast and to see how the latest script translates in front of an audience. hailtothepeople are a newly formed company of reprobates from across the UK stretching as far as Bedford all the way to Bristol. We create and develop new writing, devising and story telling for theatre which aims to challenge ideas based on social, political and environmental observations. Our work is fueled by our passion for love, freedom, cigarettes and alcohol and most importantly the search for truth. There are no rules, there are no silences, there are no boundaries. Poll Function Two west country plonkers return to a nostalgic suburbia to wreck havoc on childhood dreams, old vendettas and a system they believed would bring them future opportunity. Confined within a car for most of the journey - heavy speed, hard narcotics and puerile insults become their only means of escapism. They fight, spit, cry and kill while struggling to except their feelings are only human. Come and support the next leg of our journey and stick around for a beer and a chat after. No late entry.
