Pop-Up Screens Outdoor Screening: Footloose (1984)

All he wanted to do was dance

Pop Up Screens aim to bring brilliant films to cool locations. For this one head to Bishop's Park in Fulham for a lot of lovely food, amazing popcorn and a fully stocked bar. If you’d prefer to bring your own picnic that’s ok, but it must be noted you will be missing out on burgers from the guy that supplies Harrods. For this one, get your dancing shoes on for Footloose. Please note: this is not the sub-standard, bellow-par Footloose remake from 2011. Do not worry. This is the 1984 original, the classic, the only one worth watching. When you think of Kevin Bacon you just can't stop thinking of dancing in Footloose. A newcomer in a Midwestern town where dancing and rock music are illegal, Bacon is determined to loosen everyone up. What follows is a teenage rebellion with rhythm. "Only the most cynical would never admit to tapping their toes." – Film4 "Footloose doesn't expect to be watched closely or taken seriously. It wants to fill the screen with catchy music and pretty kids, and this it certainly accomplishes." – New York Times Certificate 12A. Runtime: 1 hour 40 minutes. You do need to bring something to sit on, there’s always plenty of room so you can get inventive. Please don’t bring a tent though... it’s just showing off.
