Led by Dr Jana Gajdošová, this tour will explore the founding of the V&A and the birth of museum culture. You will consider the buildings that house the V&A collections and the people involved in giving the museum its start in the 19th century, namely Prince Albert, Henry Cole, Queen Victoria and even William Morris. The tour will also include the plaster casts, which were in the original collections at the time of its foundation and which are probably the world’s most impressive example of this early modern curiosity.
Meeting point is in front of the Easby Cross at the entrance of the venue.
