Sakari Oramo continues his exploration of great British orchestral music with Elgar’s ground-breaking first symphony and Bax's luminous tone-poem The Garden Of Fand. While Bax's work evokes the Irish legend of the siren Fand in her watery world, Elgar wrote of his masterful symphony: "There is no programme beyond a wide experience of human life with a great charity and a massive hope in the future."
