Sara Pope Exhibition Opening Party: Q&A, DJs + Beer

Punchy pop-art of the Pope, Lips and Violent Femmes

When her portrait of Pope Francis was accepted by the pontiff to form part of the permanent Vatican art collection in 2014, Sara Pope quickly gained prominence in the international art scene; and it is easy to see why. Her work is equally as thought-provoking as it is sexy and seductive, raising questions about the ideals of beauty and the transience of celebrity culture behind the glamorous gloss of vivid colours - think punchy pop-art for generation Y. Shoreditch's Boxpark are hosting a unique Pope-Up (get it?) art exhibition, where the artist will launch the first edition of her acclaimed portrait of His Holiness Pope Francis I, alongside the seductive Lips series and editions form her Violent Femmes series. So, head down to Shoreditch for the opening of Sara Pope's first Thursday exhibition, featuring an artist Q&A, live DJs and complimentary Heineken. The Pope Francis prints, hand-finished with 23ct gold leaf and in a limited edition of 250, will be exclusively available to buy at the Boxpark exhibition; so grab them whilst you can. Over 18s only. Valid ID required. This event is free and entry is on a first come first served basis, so it can't be guaranteed. You need to be registered to store the event information in your profile, but rest assured, we won't charge you a penny.
