Deep Web gives the inside story of one of the the most important crime sagas of the century – the arrest of Ross Ulbricht. In May 2015, the entrepreneur was convicted of being Dread Pirate Roberts, creator of online black market Silk Road. The film explores how the leaders behind the deep web are in the crosshairs of the battle for control of our technological future, with our digital rights hanging in the balance. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director Alex Winter via Skype afterwards. This event is hosted by The Frontline Club. With a history rooted in the freelance video news industry, the Club exists to promote freedom of expression and supports journalists, cameramen and photographers who risk their lives in the course of their work.
