The Changing Face Of News Gathering

How do journalists get their big scoops?

With conflict and political unrest on the increase across the globe, it’s becoming more and more difficult for journalists to gain access and cover stories in a traditional news sense. This talk will explore which new and unconventional means of news gathering are being employed in their place – with user generated content emerging as a major way of getting the story out to the rest of the world. Chaired by Richard Pendry of the University of Kent, the panel will discuss everything from technology and technique to distribution and verification. Jon Snow’s future looks bleak (only joking, love you and your ties/socks, Snow). Best available seating.
