The Jackson Quartet Featuring Vimala Rowe

Celebrating great jazz singers in duet

Two of the UK's finest jazz singers bring their unique and contrasting styles together to celebrate great jazz vocals in duet. Vimala Rowe and Theo Jackson have each made their significant mark on the jazz scene in the UK and abroad. Now they bring their contrasting styles together on stage in a celebration of great jazz vocals. Vimala's emotive and theatrical delivery is reminiscent of the best of Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald whilst Theo's soulful vocal style is complimented by his accomplished piano playing. Between them they have appeared at many of the world's most prestigious venues including The Royal Albert Hall, Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, The Kennedy Center (USA) and The Southbank Centre. Vimala Rowe - Vocals Theo Jackson - Piano / Vocals Giazonne Reyes - Double Bass Marco Qurantotto - Drums A prolific songwriter, Theo Jackson writes from the heart. He finds inspiration for his songs everywhere - from the tale of a homeless man who is befriended by a little girl proving that no-one is ever really alone, to that of a lonely tortoise. This singer/songwriter refuses to be constrained by any one style. With a distinctive voice, his songs are drawn from the imagination of a natural storyteller and have an ethereal, other-worldly quality while being grounded in reality. "One of the most interesting jazz vocalists and composers to emerge on the British scene in recent years, Jackson can flit between ballads and rapid-fire scatting in the blink of an eye." The Daily Telegraph "One of Britain's finest jazz musicians and singers." Michael Wilson, JAZZ FM Vimala’s performances have captivated audiences everywhere with notable appearances at Ronnie Scott’s with the Alex Webb Band, The London Jazz Festival (Crazy Coqs) with John Etheridge and at The Leicester Square Theartre in the musical Cafe Society Swing. Her mix of Jazz sophistication and swing, soulful passion and a hint of Indian exoticism is enthralling. "'There is no question that Rowe is one of the most distinctive singers to come along in some time.'" Clive Davis, The Sunday Times "A captivating and seemingly effortless soulful voice."
