The Last Word Festival 2016: Tongue Fu

Celebrate the best of spoken word at The Roundhouse

Featuring the best of poetry, storytelling and live performance, The Last Word Festival returns to The Roundhouse (one of the world's most incredible live performance venues) for another year. The festival showcases the best talent in spoken word, from the genre's trailblazers to rising stars and everything in between. Get ready to be amused, moved and lexically delighted by the best wordsmiths around. The UK’s sharpest poets, storytellers, rappers and comedians perform with jaw-dropping improvised soundtracks from the genre hopping Tongue Fu Band and animations from design studio CR&D. Created and hosted by poet Chris Redmond, Tongue Fu is one of the UK’s liveliest and largest spoken word shows: a riotous experiment in live literature, music and improvisation. For this special show the line-up includes Trainspotting and Acid House author Irvine Welsh, YouTube smashing super-poet Hollie McNish, beatbox and improv legend Beardyman, US and World Slam champ Buddy Wakefield and UK Slam champ Deanna Rodger. The show takes place in the Main Space at The Roundhouse. Please arrive on time as latecomers may not be admitted.
