The Man Who Fell to Earth: Screening + Q&A

The iconic '70s film as you've never experienced it before

The British Film Institute are delighted to announce that Michael C Hall, the soon-to-be star of the David Bowie-penned musical Lazarus, will join them for a Q&A following a screening of the cult '70s film. He will be accompanied by the show’s producer Robert Fox for a fantastical evening of insight into the Starman's world. With his urbane charm and willowy androgyny, Bowie was perfectly cast as the starman who falls to Earth seeking water for his drought-stricken planet. Deploying his superior technological intelligence, the visitor becomes Thomas Jerome Newton, a super-rich inventor and international industrialist. Although he finds temporary solace in the arms of Mary-Lou, a sweet and naive chambermaid, his heart longs for his alien home and the family that he may never see again. Bowie’s fragile vulnerability provides the film with an intense emotional core as Newton struggles to come to terms with a species whose society is built on exploitation and suffering. Certificate: 18. Valid ID required. Runtime: 2 hours 19 minutes.
