The Moderate Soprano

David Hare's latest work is music to our ears

David Hare’s new play is the story of an intense love affair between unlikely bedfellows and of the unrelenting search for artistic excellence in the face of searing scrutiny, sacrifice and war. His protagonist, John Christie, has a formidable will: he wooed his wife with a determination befitting a man who won the Military Cross. His next ambitious project – constructing an opera house – is inspired by Wagner's music. This is a task that proves far more difficult than he could have ever expected, however. Hare returns to Hampstead with this latest work. He's joined by the three time Olivier award-winning legend, Roger Allam. This won't be anything short of extraordinary. The Hampstead Theatre was born in a humble hut over fifty years ago with one aim: to create original theatre without creative restriction. They left their hut a little while ago, but are still driven by the same vision. To challenge, influence and shape the future of British theatre. To create the future mainstream – entertaining experiences that are original and ambitious. If booking multiple tickets please make sure to book from one YPlan account if you want to be seated together. You will be allocated the best available seats in the selected seating area.
