Conor McPherson’s haunting play is a softly lilting exploration of solitude. In a remote Irish bar, four old friends gather. A woman enters and obviously their banter becomes a challenge to impress her by outdoing one another’s ghost stories. But her tale is the most haunting of all. Having premiered at the Royal Court, McPherson won an Olivier award. This is now a chance to see this modern classic in its first major British revival.
