Vault Festival 2016: Don't Waste Your Bullets on the Dead

When writers block strikes, heartbreak can make great material

London's biggest arts festival is returning: make your way underground for six weeks of creativity, innovation and chaos at Vault Festival. With more than 100 different shows spread across eight incredible venues, you're not going to find anything else like it above or below ground any time soon. Everyone expects Ellen Billington's new play to be the theatrical sensation of the year. Everyone except Ellen. In the grip of writer's block and with her deadline fast approaching Ellen finds inspiration in a surprising place. A sharp and witty comedy about the personal sacrifices people make in the name of art and whether they're worth it, this is another excellent play from Freddie Machin. His debut play, Chicken, received immense critical-acclaim, winning awards and being made into a feature film. It looks like he's set to knock our socks off once again. "Consistently entertaining and often hilarious" – Exeunt Magazine (on Winston On The Run, EdFringe 2012) – "An astonishing debut…full of fun, humanity and hope" – Sir Ian McKellen (on Chicken, Feature Film, 2015) Show takes place in the Cage space. Running time is approx 55 minutes
