Britain's best wine tasting day out – we'll drink to thatWe're not sure who first decided to stamp on some grapes and before leaving them for so long that they became alcoholic, but damn do we owe them a drink two. A life without wine doesn't really bear thinking about. Thankfully, we can live happily in the knowledge that the Wine Gang Winter Festival exists. It's back after another sellout festival last year. Taste from over 600 different wines available from £6 to £60, so you can pick out bottles suitable for an afterwork tipple and the special occasions alike.
There'll be plenty to see and do at the event. You have the chance to join a member of the Gang on the Wine Walk and visit areas such as the Eclectic Avenue where you can find the wine world's more esoteric offerings. There'll also be a free prize draw, where entrants have the chance to win a magnum of champers, plus a number of masterclasses which tickets can be purchased for.
Each masterclass includes an entry ticket to the festival:
The Sparkling Wines Of Nyetimber, England: 12:15pm-1pm
- Taste eight wines and find out why Nyetimber has got a serious stake at the claim of being the best British producers of sparkling wine at this session presented by Jane Parkinson.
The Wines Of Chateau Suduiraut, Sauternes: 1:45pm-2:30pm
- Taste nine vintages of one of the world's greatest sweet wines at this extraordinary masterclass with winemaker Pierre Montégut. Interested? You'll need to snap tickets up quickly – this is a guaranteed sellout.
The Wines of Wynns, Coonawarra, Australia: 3:15pm-4pm
- Sue Hodder is one of Australia's most respected winemakers. She'll be hosting a tasting session where attendees can try the iconic Riddoch Cabernet back to 1984, as well as the rare Michel Shiraz.
The Wines of Cloudy Bay, New Zealand: 4:45pm-5:30pm
- The Cloudy Bay's Sauvignon Blanc is one of the most iconic wines in the world. Jo Simon will lead the way through eight wines from it's amazing portfolio.
Over 18s only. Valid ID required. The event runs from 12pm to 6pm. Masterclass + Entry ticket holders are welcome to come and enjoy the festival before the start of their masterclass.
